Butterfly Frame
by Kristy on November 10, 2011

Hey ODDies. It’s Lou here from Cartolinas from Lou Mac, with a little ‘altered’ project using the gorgeous Bliss from the BRAND NEW Nouveau Girls collection from Some Odd Girl. I know you are all about as excited as me!! These images are just PERFECT for colouring practice. They scream to be inked up and coloured over and over again!

So.. on to the frame. I guess this is the first thing of this sort I’ve actually attempted, so I’ll try and talk you through it. :)

I actually bought this frame looking the way it is with the dark brown/ mahogany appearance. So I went with oranges, blues, teal and greens to match. I coloured this beauties skin and hair using Copics and her dress, flowers and accessories using ProMarkers. I used all three sizes of butterlies from the Bliss set, stamped in Pumpkin Pie, Blue Bayou, Sage Shadow and Taken with Teal inks from SU! then fussy cut them out to adhere them to the top left corner.

If I was to recreate this I would leave a smaller white border around each of the cut out elements, but I guess we’re our own worst critics, right?

That just about covers it, I think. You know you’ll want your own set of Nouveau Girls, so pick them up NOW!!

Take it easy. xo ~ Lou.

Candle Project by Christina
by Kristy on November 8, 2011

I have made a candle ! A very easy and fun project! Don´t be afraid – anyone can do it! If I can, you can!

You can use the same tissue as you use when you have a cold. Un-used of course ;-) . Take one out and the stamp your image on the tissue. I have use a non waterproof black ink pad and then I colored it with Promarker.

I have used the beautiful “Bliss” for my project.

When you have colored the image, you have to cut it out. You need to cut as close as you can to image.

When you have cut out the image, you separate all the layers of the tissue, so you only have one
thin layer left with the image.

You place the image on your candle and then you cover it with a piece af baking paper (cover the whole candle to be on the safe side). Then you use a heat gun to melt the image on to the candle. You see the colors changing, that way you know the candle is done.

Take gently of the paper and voilà – the image is stuck to the candle!

I hope you get what I mean. It´s really easy and fun and such a great gift to give away. I tried on a old candle
first before I got serious with a new one.

 Have a great craftin day!

hugs Christina

Nouveau Decor
by Kristy on November 4, 2011

Hi ya everyone!  This is Melissa from Melissa Made and I’m completely addicted to the Nouveau Girls from Some Odd Girl.  My first instinct with these beauties was to alter something.  The elegant design of each stamp really screamed color me!

So I did with my Copics but the only place that looked like a good home for the above stamp Believe, was a jewelry box.  I purchased an unfinished wooden box from my local scrapbook store and painted it with a champagne metallic acrylic paint.  Next I chose a fabulous paper from My Minds Eye and and embellished.  The Nouveau girl came next.

She is stunning on this box.  Here in another photo at a different angel.

For the altered frame below I stamped Bliss on X-Press it blending paper and colored her with my Copics.

The background first and colored a number of the accent flowers that come with Bliss.  I randomly placed those on the paper.  The frame was a bit of a challenge as it was a cheap frame and I’m not even sure what the surface was – I think plastic.  I roughed it up a bit and added some of the same champagne paint only to have the frame look silver which didn’t really match the warm tones I was trying for.

I then added some Lindy’s Gang Starburst Spritz to get a gorgeous glimmer and warm bronze tone.  Once I put the frame completely together I added a number of simple embellishments on the front including mulberry paper rose, acrylic rose and a few paper and chipboard accents.

Don’t forget to stop by and pick up some of your very own Nouveau Girls!  You won’t be disappointed!
